Born in padstow i grew up with the Atlantic ocean on the doorstep and i have fond memories of watching the activity around the Quay and the lively banter of the fishermen.
From an early age i learnt to capture the world around me through my drawing and painting and from the first time i was given a cheap set of watercolours i was hooked on the wonderful hues and effects i could get with just this simple set.Over the years i have developed a style which is more to do with the feel of a place rather than an accurate portrayal, this suits my way of working and my love of colour.
Whilst walking my Dogs along the Camel Estuary i will often pick up on something i have noticed and work this into a painting.
I always have an eye to a particular mood in my work which reflects the changing seasons or a time of day,i use colour and form to this end.
As i child i was made aware of all the imaginary things that can be seen in a great sky and because of this i love to paint complicated and imaginary skies using many colours. The sea can be a wild and dangerous place,I strive to capture this with perhaps a gentleness injected reminiscent of long summer days.
